Extra Credit Blog
Citing at least one specific passage from either reading, respond to the following questions:
1. What do the judges and lawyers seem to be debating in deciding this case? Which argument do you feel is the strongest and why?
If this was clear violation of her 4th amendment rights illegal search and seizure of property, and making her strip in front of the principle and the vice principle. Also this is just a humiliating situation to put a 13 year old girl in, in the article justice takes on strip searches quoted Ginsburg was also the toughest questioner of Wright, calling the events of the day "humiliating" for Redding and saying school officials searched her on the basis of the other girl's accusations "with no questions asked at all."
Roberts asked the lawyers if the court could simply decide the case by agreeing that school officials could not be sued for their actions. The split decisions of lower courts and the justices' own reactions to whether the search was constitutional make it evident that the law is not clear, the chief justice said (Robert, 1). I feel that Reddings rights were clearly violated, teh school failed to call her parents, it failed to provide a legal search, it went on the word of two 13 year old students, and made her strip infront of two grown men.
2. You are a school administrator, and you have received word that the Supreme Court ruled that strip searches are allowed in middle schools to prevent illegal possession and distribution of drugs. However, you worry that this could open up the school to unnecessary lawsuits. You have no choice but to implement strip searches, but you decide that they should only be conducted in a certain manner and under strict criteria. What would this entail? Provide specific details of your plan in your answer.
The searches would have to be conducted by an individual of the same sex boys with male teachers, or police officers, and girls, with female teachers, or police officers. They would then have to follow the letter of the law because when it comes to peoples children you have to be safe and make sure the child isn't humiliated. I would also recommend that the individual involved in the search need to take a course to make sure they are properly trained in performing legal searches. Also I would want to have an on-sight physiologist to talk to the kids to make sure they aren't to traumatized by the situation, and to also inform the parent before we perform any kind of search. That way they have the opportunity to have a lawyer present if they want, or to at least be present wile the search is going on.
3. If the school would have found a large quantity of prescription-strength Ibuprofen in Savana Redding's possession, would that change your opinion about whether the strip search was warranted? If you said "yes," what do you recommend the school should have done in her case to prevent a lawsuit, since she didn't possess the drugs?
Yes it would have changed the situation for one it would have meant that they would have legal grounds to give a strip search not just the word of a two 13 year old students who were already in trouble and didn't care if they took any one else down with them. Next the principle needed to call the parents before they decided to do anything in my opinion they failed big time. If the parent gives the go ahead to let the school perform the search then go ahead, but if you don't have permission then you have to wait either till the parent gets there or a lawyer is present to make sure the child's rights aren't violated like they were in this case.

Blog # 10 Jesus is my home boy
1. After considering the arguments, how do you respond to the visual and textual rhetoric of these shirts? the visual is not so much disturbing as the words underneath it. you can have a image of how you want Jesus to look happy sad what ever its the wording that really disturbs me. The Mary is my home girl t-shirt effects me the same the image isn't what bothers me its the wording. Does one shirt elicit a different reaction from you than the other? no they both equally make me upset with the saying "Jesus is my homeboy," and "Mary is my home girl."
Do you see the images as a parody? it isn't so much a parody, as it is trying to create shock value to get people to notice what they are selling. How does your exposure, participation, or lack of participation in a spiritual faith influence your answer? Explain. i am a firm believer in god but seeing as i am Jewish this probably wouldn't effect me As much as someone who is Catholic. But on the same level if someone was to take Jewish religious figures and do the same i would be upset. it would upset me because god is not one to gain a profit off of or to market as your best buddy.
2. If the t-shirts only contained the text, how would that impact the rhetorical effect? the effect to me would be the same because it' not so much the picture that offends me it the wording that really offends me.
3. How do you interpret the rhetorical message about Jesus in each t-shirt? Consider how you interpreted the comics and ads in the beginning of the term as a model for how to respond to this question. the message that i get from the image is that Jesus is your best buddy. Its relates this message in the image because Jesus is there smiling giving you the piece sign in one image, and in the other he is just simply setting there holding up the wording "Jesus is my home boy." the first image really rubs me the wrong way more than the other. The image of Jesus holding up the piece sign with his hat on and his hoody over it. This to me represents a more gangster version of Jesus one that would drink with you and smoke. and at the end of it tell you it would be nice if we went to church now to repent what we have just done laughing. to me this just really plays on the fact that Jesus is all forgiving that he would just be there as a symbol of divinity and that he is your best friend. but the Bible depicts him as the savior, these people are taking that image and using it to make a profit pure shock value noting more.

blog # 2 Running
In your blog, respond to the following:1. What was your initial reaction to this ad? What elements stood out to you the most? The elements that stood out to me were how he compared runners and jogger. How jogging might as well be sleep walking when comparing it to running. They are two entirely different things. It also speaks to the human desire the need to run, and how inside all of us there is a desire to run, because if we didn’t we would have never caught any food early on in human evolution. It also says how people truly don’t run any more they mostly jog at parks they jog and listen to music, or jog on treadmills.
2. Do you run? If so, how did this affect your response to the ad? If you are not a runner, how did that affect your response to the ad? Yes I run but it seems I need to re-evaluate my definition of running, this article puts running in a whole new perspective. It compares jogging as the half assessed way of running basically saying that if you don’t have the heart to tun get out of the way. Also if you’re not making people feel uncomfortable than you’re not running fast enough. It also makes me feel proud that I try and give it my all when I run I don’t half ass it I pour my heart out on the pavement.
3. Analyze the literal components of this advertisement (text, allusions to television, layout, images, and other elements referenced in your reading). How do these elements lend significance to the ad's intent to persuade? They show that runners are a force to be reckoned with a joggers are merely a byproduct of the lazy runner who lost his/her ability to want to run but can’t simply quit so he/she jogs. The pictures show how these runners a force to be reckoned with and how also in a lot of crime shows there is always a runner who finds the body of a person in the woods randomly that s because they run they don’t need people to see them run they just do it.
4. What values are promoted or discouraged in this ad? The values of this article are not wanting to quite, even though running might be hard your body needs to run it wants to run. Your body was bred to run it evolved so that you could catch food, and to escape preditors. It also discourages jogging in a way that it makes jogging seem like quitting like you’re not a real person unless you run, and if you jog that’s ok but running is still better.

Consider the intended audience for this ad Does Pearl Izumi alienate the "jogging" population to its detriment, or do you see marketing advantages in dividing the running population from the jogging population? Explain. There is always a marketing scheme embedded in an ad, you could simpley add to this at the end that is why I’m selling my special designed hand made shoes made especially for runners by runners.
6. Review your text's description of appeals to logos, ethos, and pathos. When you look at this ad, what type of appeal is strongest to you? Regardless of your opinion on this subject matter, if you could choose only one ad, the Pearl Izumi or the Reebok ad, to appear in a magazine, which would you consider the most effective in selling its product? Explain the main reasons why you chose one ad and why you rejected the other. The Reebok ad simply put the company is well known name brand, and I have never heard of Pearl Izumi. You can also easily find Reeboks I’ve never seen Pearls shoes for sale at any shoe store.

Blog #1 Army Games
The layout of the web page reads like a complex war video game that you would find available in your local Best Buy, or Game Stop for your XBOX game console. the photos are very realistic and life like they make you seem like you are actually in the war, or training at boot camp to become a solider. They even have the frag girls to promote the sexual driven teen male audience for this game. Thy seem to have all the angles covered to get you to join the army. The web site also lets you see real life heroes who have saved people in the line of duty, who are in turn being used to promote this game and its creature the U.S. army. For example on the main web page their is a picture of a U.S. army soldier who was awarded the silver star for her heroics in battle what would she need to be doing promoting a video game for the military i wonder. maybe promoting it so that the military can get more teens to join who want to go off into battle, and fight. Here is a hint kids you don't get to re-spawn or come back to life after you get shot in real life.

Who is the intended audience, and how effectively or ineffectively does this web site's rhetoric appeal to its audience? this is clearly aimed at young teens and maybe young adults who can't seem to grow up. This is a very effective way unfortunately to reach and capture the minds of the youth of America today. They see how amazing it is to fight in a video game then someone with a couple of medals, and a gun says you can do this in real life and get paid what brain washed teenager wouldn't want to say yes to that.
3. Do you agree with Navy veteran Boyle that this website/game indoctrinates the ideology of war? How does it compare with how the media portrays the Iraq War? If you know someone who has fought or is currently fighting in the Iraq War, you could relay their war experiences and how that compares to this website (only reveal what's comfortable for you). this game might be a simulation of what real war is like but that's all it is a simulation. I have a friend who has served 3 tours of duty in Iraq i mentioned this game to him and he told me oh ya the body bag game he calls it because a young private came threw his unit talking about how she joined up because of the game and how she had outstanding marksmanship skills. that afternoon they brought back pieces of her in two different body bags. there are no second chances in the real war zone he said you always have to be aware he didn't want to talk about the rest of how she was killed and i didn't ask after that.
4. Do you think this video game and the website promote violence or influence teens to become more violent? More aggressive? What are your opinions about violence in video games?Feel free to comment on anything else related to this topic. Please don't worry about my opinions. That's what will make the class interesting! this game will most defiantly promote violence in teens that's what the army wants it to do to mimic the real situation as much as possible now I'm not saying that the game alone will promote violence. Its coupling the game mixed with military promoters drill Sgt and the idea that someone will pay you to kill in real life, and you won't get in trouble.

Personal testimonies: I have a friend who has a 1971 mustang GT that his father gave him and it starts up every day without problems. The car I’m told corners like a dream unlike the old 1971 mustang it really goes into the turn like a hot knife going right through butter. Also the interior is very basic as it should be for a performance car just the essentials necessary for good driving.
Scenarios: The car allows you park any where you want, because who would ticket piece of American muscle like this one. Also because of its safety features this car is impossible to steal, or to hot wire.
Statistics: Speaking from a gear head perspective this car being only 1 of 25 built in 2008 makes it a prized possession. Its value will only continue to rise as the years go by. Because of its tremendous rarity driving it would have to be restricted as to not damage its value basically it would only be driven in cases where you need to drive it emergencies. (Edmonds.com) quoted the vehicle a best buy for 2008 performance vehicles, and safety features. In U.S. new scores it ranked a 9.0 out of 10 for one of the best muscle cars in America it also sustains a lot of its value. It was also ranked one of the mist affordable muscle cars in America by (caranddriver.com). a poll taken by Edmunds.com also found that people who drive muscle cars preferred the performance of the mustang 4to1 over similar imports with close to the same power, and performance.

It also scored 5 out of 5 on its side, and front crash rating. It is not only one of the few cars that I can fit into but it is also equipped with a roll cage, huge ABS 15 inch brakes, and stability control. That alone with its amazing handling, suspension, its 8 air bags, and you have a safety net of features at your disposal. Appeal to her emotions (use pathos to get what you want): “Mom you would want your son to be safe while driving to school with all those crazy drivers on 95 wouldn’t you.” This car would keep your baby boy safe from the crazy drivers as well as get good gas mileage to make sure I get were I’m going not wasting a lot of money. Appeal to her character (appeal to a quality of your mother or female guardian): “mom I know that you think muscle cars aren’t safe, but this car has won multiple car and driver awards for safety. Appeal to need (how this can help you, help your mother, help the family, etc.): by having this car I wouldn’t have to depend on you mom, for rides to practice, to go see my friends, or most important to go on dates. I would also not need to depend on you for rides to school in the morning. Dear Mom Dad
I understand why you would be concerned with your son getting such an expensive car. But the features alone if we were to purchase a everyday mustang than add them on would exceed the price of the car already equipped the role cage alone on the car would coast us about $15,000 to have installed in the car, the upgraded suspension another $20,000 just those feature would push the price of a basic “Stang” to about $67,000, and that’s not even including all the other safety features, like airbags, racing harness, or sway bars, including traction control. These features truly are a great investment because you truly can’t put a price on my safety can you. Also the value of this car you have to think of it like investing in a home or a piece of real-estate it will only grow in value. For example if you had bought a 1969 GT500 428 cobra jet Mustang and sold it today you would probably make around $800,000 dollars, when the car only coast about $7,500, if you only had the foresight to purchase one then. 1. The value of the car will never go down as long as we keep it maintained and in good condition

Explanation: This song really shakes up the ideas of young America’s problem with just getting by. Too many times I have seen people waste there god given talents. They throw them away as if they never wanted them to begin with. Young Americans truly live in a society were anything is possible, were no matter who you are if you work hard enough you can accomplish anything. What I hope people would take away from this song, is to not just sit around, and watch the world go by change the world, make your talents’ work for you because it will take you as far as you want it to. To limits that only people can imagine in their dreams.

Part1: You the old man a bum on a side walk sleeping with one eye open people passing him on the streets trying to avoid his stench at all costs as to not vomit. The man dreams sweet dreams of his younger days when he was a star athlete who had it all and was on a fast track to stardom. Until he decided he wanted fast money, and quit sports, and school to sell drugs, and gangbang with his so called friends.
Part2: He wakes from his dream only to realize that it was only that a dream, and that reality is much colder. He looks around thinking he is in someone else’s body but soon realizes that this nightmare is the reality he has woken from. He quickly tries to fall back asleep. To get back to the world which he is someone but he can’t it has already passed him by cruelly, and without remorse he has become wasted talent to the world.
CD title: Wasted… till you Realize
The CD cover would have a picture of an old man walking empty streets because people would be trying to avoid him at all coasts his torn clothing all matted, and discolored hanging off of him like tissue paper. While at the other end of the CD cover, you would see his former younger self a star athlete with everything he ever wanted just beyond his grasp almost touching the discolored old man but unobtainable because he has wasted his talent, and time has passed him by.

Explanation: This song deals with the lies, sex, and corruption that occur today in modern politics, and especially in politicians that run our country. It also helps people to understand that they hold power to. That as easily as we give politician’s, and CEO”s power over our country, we can just as easily take that power away. Open your mind is what I want people to see to the greed that occurs every day around them, and try, and fight back because when good people stop trying, that’s when the corrupt win.

Explanation: This song speaks to the soldiers fighting over in the Middle East. These soldiers that are fighting for people aren’t appreciated enough toady. They sacrifice so much, family, their children, their wives, sons’ daughter, and brothers. Yet people sometimes don’t realize that they are just people like you, and me trying to defend what we take from granted freedom, rights, equality. This song is for them for the Fallen, and the ones still fighting on we love you all.

It is hard enough today for teen’s to be happy with themselves without the added pressure of trying to look a certain way all the time. This song speaks to people to be happy with who you are, and that no matter what race, religion, or gender you truly are a beautiful person.
